ACCURE bolsters leadership team with multiple senior promotions as company enters next phase of growth

Aachen, Germany, March. ACCURE Battery Intelligence (ACCURE) today announces the promotion of Dr. Sebastian Kawollek to Chief Product Officer (CPO), alongside the promotions of Darya Rüwald to Director of Battery Intelligence and Marc Locke to Director of Performance Engineering. Already the decision-making layer for owners and operators of grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) across three continents, demand is growing quickly and ACCURE is scaling to meet it.

As grid-scale BESS portfolios grow in scale and complexity, owners and operators face mounting pressure to protect revenue, control operating costs (opex), and demonstrate the long-term value of their assets to investors and lenders. Addressing that pressure requires a decision-making layer that works across the full lifecycle of an asset, connecting battery performance to the operational and financial outcomes customers are accountable for. These promotions reflect ACCURE's commitment to building the team its customers need as their portfolios grow.

“Over the past several years, Sebastian, Darya, and Marc have been central to everything ACCURE has built: our platform, our analytics, and the trust our customers place in us,” said Dr. Kai-Philipp Kairies, CEO of ACCURE. “Promoting them into these roles is a recognition of what they’ve already proven, and a signal of where we’re going. The market is scaling fast. Our customers are operating larger, more complex portfolios, and there is less tolerance for redundancy than ever before. This is the leadership team that will take ACCURE into that next chapter.”

As Chief Product Officer, Dr. Kawollek will lead the alignment of ACCURE’s product strategy, development roadmap, and market positioning. His mandate is to ensure that ACCURE’s platform, already having been deployed across more than 18 GWh of operational assets globally, continues to evolve in step with the real-world pressures facing asset managers and O&M teams.

“What we’ve learned from years of working with customers across the US, Europe, and beyond is that they’re not interested in data for its own sake. They care about outcomes,” said Dr. Sebastian Kawollek. “They want their batteries to perform, the value locked in their warranty and service contracts protected, and their trading strategies to work. My focus is on making sure every part of our product is pulling in that direction, and that we’re building the platform and partnerships our customers will rely on not just today, but as their portfolios grow over the next decade.”

The two further promotions reflect the same philosophy, elevating the people who have been closest to ACCURE’s customers and capabilities into the roles that will define the company’s next phase:

Darya Rüwald has been promoted to Director of Battery Intelligence, leading a newly consolidated function that brings together ACCURE’s battery analytics capabilities. She will focus on advancing ACCURE’s analytical depth and ensuring that the quality and integrity of the company’s insights remain a genuine differentiator, particularly as customers face more complex portfolio dynamics and higher expectations around performance reporting.

"Five years of working with real-world battery storage data have taught us what no model can, and that depth of knowledge is what sets ACCURE apart. By bringing that expertise into one dedicated function, we can move faster, go deeper, and give owners and operators the clarity they need to make confident decisions across every stage of their assets' lives," said Darya Rüwald, Director of Battery Intelligence.

Marc Locke has been promoted to Director of Performance Engineering, bringing deep knowledge of ACCURE’s customer base to a role that is central to the company’s growth. As BESS operators manage larger and more distributed fleets, many face a growing gap between the data available to them and the in-house expertise required to interpret it and act on it effectively.

ACCURE’s Performance Engineering team effectively closes this gap, combining battery expertise with experience working directly on operating BESS assets to support customers beyond what the platform itself provides. The team works with owners and operators to diagnose performance issues, identify root causes, and guide corrective actions that protect revenue, reduce opex, and preserve asset value over time.

In his new role, Locke will focus on scaling this capability and ensuring customers have consistent access not just to data, but to the expertise required to make confident, informed decisions across their portfolios.

“Our customers are running larger portfolios, under more pressure, with higher stakes on every decision they make,” said Marc Locke, Director of Performance Engineering. “Over the years I’ve seen first-hand that what keeps them performant and profitable isn’t just access to a great platform. It’s having people in their corner who understand their assets, their contracts, and their business. That’s what ACCURE is, and this role is about making sure we keep delivering on that as we grow.”

Together, the three appointments reflect ACCURE’s confidence in the talent it has developed internally, and its ambition to become the default partner for battery asset decision-making, wherever operators are running assets and whatever comes next in the global BESS market.
